The Joys of Jury Duty.....
well I spent a fun filled day sitting around at the courthouse yesterday until it came time to leave. I got in the elevator to go down to the first floor from the second floor (you need a pass card for the stairs..lol) and all of a sudden..the elevator doors close and starts to go, then it stops and buzzes. well, wouldn't you know, the darn thing got stuck. I was stuck in a tiny elevator with 13 other people, (yes you heard right, a total of 14 people jammed in the elevator) We were stuck there for 40 minutes while the police and firefighters tried to figure out how to get us out. The door wouldn't open so they decided they were going to try to lower it, that didn't work. A police officer joined us with some oxygen for a man that was having trouble breathing. That now brings the total to 15 people on this elevator. Then when the lowering idea didn't work, the firefighters and the cops decided they were going to bring us out of the top. So as they tried to move the panel for a larger opening, they busted the cord for the light which caused a huge spark and then the lights went out. They finally lowered a ladder and we all climbed out. What a fun day!!! The best part was when I had to call in tonight to see if I still had to report for Jury Duty again and guess what? I am on call for tomorrow!! Yay!! I'm going to ask if they can take me up the stairs.
